ANNUAL MEETINGS OFFER GREAT NETWORKING & EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES!
The spring, summer and fall meetings provide opportunities to enhance Dealer/Manufacturer relationships - by strengthening existing relationships, and developing new ones.
The CAIA meeting events provide educational programs that address agricultural concerns, such as new technology, government programs, and industry issues. CAIA recruits guest speakers that keep the membership informed and updated on issues and concerns that directly impact California agriculture, water, and the irrigation industry.
Past guest speakers have included: Secretary of State Bill Jones; Mike Wade, Executive Director of California Farm Water Coalition; Former Senator Jim Costa; Helen Flach, USDA NRCS; Dr. David Zoldoske, Director of the Center of Irrigation Technology (ITRC), Fresno State; Mike Gohring, CALFED Water Use Efficiency Manager; Dr. Charles Burt and Dr. Stuart Styles, Cal Poly Irrigation Training & Research Center.
CAIA was pleased to welcome A.G. Kawamura, Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, as their guest speaker at the February 14, 2006 CAIA Spring Meeting in Tulare, California.
The ITRC at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo offers their summer irrigation classes that directly benefit CAIA educationally and financially.
CAIA functions provide a forum to meet with peers, exchange ideas, and increase profitability through roundtables, panel discussions, and professional presentations.
A VOICE IN GOVERNMENT!
The Irrigation Association, State Congressmen and Assemblymen, the Secretary of the State of California, United States Department of Agriculture-NRCS, and others recognize the CAIA as a professional organization serving the interests of irrigation in California agriculture. Many times the CAIA has been called upon for their input on water and environmental issues that help shape legislation affecting California agriculture. CAIA was very active last year writing letters of opposition regarding legislation that affects water, agriculture, and the irrigation industry.
CAIA is very active in shaping the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) of the Farm Bill in California. Contacts have been made at both the state and the county levels.
The CAIA Board of Directors participates as part of the steering committee for the State Water Management Engineer with the EQIP Program.
The CAIA is working with the Irrigation Association’s state legislative liaison to give you a say in the laws that will affect your business, both nationally and in California.
