Welcome to the California Agricultural Irrigation Association website.
California Agricultural Irrigation Association (CAIA), formally known as the Irrigation Dealers Association of California (IDAC), is an inclusive non-profit organization whose principle objective is to enhance agricultural irrigation.
The founding dealer companies of IDAC formed the association in the early 1990's when the need arose for there to be a representative association to promote not only irrigation industry standards and water/soil conservation, but to support the industry by taking an active position on legislation that effected its members, and/or customers.
In 2000, the IDAC Board, after much discussion, decided that in order for them to make a difference, promote their mission statement, and be more proactive on legislative issues, their membership needed to grow. Therefore, they approached California irrigation manufacturers, vendors, and distributors with the idea that in forming an association between dealer companies and manufacturer/vendors they would not only strengthen there cause as a representative association of the entire industry, but it would give them a united front when they addressed legislative issues that affects the industry.
In 2001, CAIA welcomed the addition of irrigation dealers, vendors, manufacturers, distributors, and others into the association. Originally starting with less then 21 companies, CAIA grew to have more than 41 regular and associate members.
Today, CAIA stands strong with 66 regular and associate member companies. As a united front, we have been very active and vocal on federal and state issues that not only affect the irrigation industry, but the overall well being of the state of California. CAIA's main mission shall be dedicated and resolved to encourage a cooperative relationship among segments of the industry, for the ultimate benefit of all concerned.
CAIA has been able to form partnerships with several public and private companies and organizations, state and federal legislative representatives, and national associations, which has enabled us to remain well informed and pro-active to strengthen our industry as a whole, and our mission as an association.
